Tampa Injury Lawyer - lawsuit

By Nicholas Dorsten, esq.

According to the St. Pete Times, a victim in a car accident will be filing a lawsuit due to the recent tragedy...

TAMPA — Two days after a fatal crash killed two of his co-workers and injured his ankle, a Marriott employee filed a lawsuit against the dentist who hit them as they walked across the Harbour Island Bridge.

The victim now uses a wheelchair and has not been back to work since the dentist, 34, was accused of driving drunk, speeding and losing control of his Cadillac Oct. 30, said the victim's personal injury attorney. His client broke his ankle jumping away from the car that hit his co-workers.

Tampa police arrested the defendant, who practices at Big Bend Dental in Riverview, and charged him with two counts of DUI manslaughter, two counts of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence with property damage or personal injury and battery on a law enforcement officer. He was released from jail Sunday on $119,000 bond.

The personal injury attorney, and the victim, a maintenance worker, filed the auto negligence suit Monday for damages exceeding $15,000.

"Nobody wants justice delayed," the auto accident lawyer said. "Prosecutors are not waiting to charge the defendant so we think the civil justice side can move contemporaneously. Why wait?"

The victim, 47, is single and has no children. He lacks the built-in support system a family provides, the car accident lawyer claimed.

"It's pretty traumatic to witness the death of two people you work with," he said.
