By Nick Dorsten, Esq.
From the St. Pete website, yet another story about a senseless automobile accident.
CLEARWATER — One man was seriously injured (no word on if he needed a personal injury attorney), and several other people sustained minor injuries in a car accident Tuesday morning that scattered wreckage across the north and south lanes of U.S. 19 N near Curlew Road, temporarily shutting down the road in both directions.
The car accident, which was called in just before 10:30 a.m., left two crashed vehicles in the southbound lanes and an overturned vehicle in the northbound lanes.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 76-year-old driver was northbound on U.S. 19 when he made a U-turn just south of Curlew and hit a 1996 Toyota driven by the car accident victim, 47, of Clearwater. Stay tuned for my upcoming blog post on elderly drivers and what your Personal Injury lawyer needs to do to protect your rights!
The impact sent the man's 2010 Lexus across the median and back into the northbound lanes, where it collided with a 2007 Dodge van driven by a 43-year-old of Pinellas Park. His van flipped, but he was not seriously injured.
The first victim was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital with serious injuries, according to the FHP.
The second victim and his three passengers — a woman, 45, and two children, 13, and 9, all of Clearwater — were taken to Mease Countryside with minor injuries.
The accident snarled traffic in both directions for about two hours.
